Let Pipedrive Power Your Trello Cards

Piperdive power-up for Trello

Sales rarely happens in a vacuum, especially the type of sales most Pipedrive users are involved in. As a salesperson or manager, an ideal scenario would likely consist of marking a deal as “won” with no further involvement beyond that point. In the real world, a won deal is often the start of a whole new set of stages within your business.

At the very least, there could be a warehouse and delivery ticket that needs to be generated, but it’s more likely to be the beginning of a major project, like building a personal robot, designing and delivering a yacht, or organizing a trip to outer space (Pipedrive users sell amazing things).

As a salesperson, you need a quick, painless and, above all, accurate way to hand over deal information once you mark it as won. This is where our new integration with Trello comes in.

Trello and Pipedrive

What is it and why do I need it?

Trello is a collaboration tool that organizes your projects into boards. In one glance, Trello tells you what’s being worked on, who’s working on what, and where something is in a process. Once you see Trello, you’ll realize why it works so well with Pipedrive. Both systems revolve around giving the user easy visibility into what is happening in their business — and moving things forward.

We know some people use Pipedrive as a project management tool, and we would never discourage that, but we are a sales tool first and foremost, and that’s where our focus lies.

So if you need to manage projects after a deal has been won, or even need some project management during a specific stage in your pipeline, our integration makes the movement of information between Pipedrive and Trello magically effortless.

Just think about how easy it could be for sales and marketing to collaborate now that the leading SaaS tools used by each department can communicate and share information.

Creating Pipedrive power-up in Trello

OK, but how does it work?

Let’s say you work for a company that sells Search Engine Optimization services to online retailers. Your sales team has knocked it out of the park, and the deals are being won at a furious pace. It’s delivery time and these are complex projects with intricate histories, and most likely, quite a few points of contact on the customer side. That means there’s a lot of information flowing back-and-forth inside your organization.

You can set a rule in Trello that automatically creates a card, triggered by an event of your choice in Pipedrive. Set it up so that the moment a deal is marked as won, a Trello card with contact details, deal history, and organization information appears in a Trello board of your choice.

Perhaps a certain stage of your pipeline requires its own project? Let’s say you create bespoke proposals for each customer and it involves designers, copywriters, and strategists. Set up a rule so that the moment the deal reaches that stage, a Trello card is triggered and the correct people are alerted.

It also works the other way. Want to add a Pipedrive contact to a Trello card? When viewing a Trello card, simply click on the Pipedrive Power-Up, start typing the contact’s name and click on the appropriate search result. The full contact item is attached to the Trello card. You can add people inside your organization and clients this way.

Adding a contact fro Trello

No copying and pasting, no back-and-forth emails to find out who to contact, and no room for human error when relaying swathes of information. Your sales team can get back to selling immediately, while you’re transferring reliable, useful information within your business. Not too bad, huh?

I’m sold. How do I get it?

You’ll need both a Pipedrive account and a free Trello account. Simply install the Pipedrive Power-Up in Trello and get moving.

In Trello:

  1. Select “Power-Ups” from the board menu
  2. Click on “’Enable”’ next to the Pipedrive Power-Up to activate it (You have to be an admin of your board to enable Power-Ups.)

While the setup is fairly straightforward, you can read more detailed instructions in this FAQ, which also explains how not everyone in your organization needs a Pipedrive account to benefit — only those wishing to create information need dual access.

    Nice move.

    • At the very least, there could be a warehouse and delivery ticket that needs to be generated, but it’s more likely to be the beginning of a major project, like building a personal robot, designing and delivering a yacht, or organizing a trip to outer space (Pipedrive users sell amazing things).

    • Want to add a Pipedrive contact to a Trello card?

    • This is awesome! I would love to be able to utilize this with clients. (I am a financial planner) What if any security issues might exist re sharing information with financial planning clients over this type of connection?

  • Great addition. On UnifiedVU (http://unified.vu/pipedrive) Platform, we also bring Pipedrive and Trello together to save time and improve operational decision making.

The deal you automatically add from Pipedrive to Trello can now be viewed together with accounting (e.g. Xero), helpdesk (e.g. Zendesk) and many other cloud SaaS Apps.

    • Aivar Ots

      Hi Jerry,
Thanks for feedback! I don’t see any security issues as log as you have control over who has access to your Trello board.

      • Jerry Bergner

        Thanks for the reply!

  • Joseph Jenkinson

Great Add-on. It would work perfectly for us if we could add to a certain board based on the type of product on the deal.

We happen to be an online marketing company just like in your example but we have web projects as well and also projects that are both web and online marketing. We would require a few additional rules in this integration in order to use this feature.

    • Aivar Ots

      Hi Joseph,
Thanks for the feedback! I will note down the additional rules for feature improvements.

  • JohnWhitling

This is a really great combo idea. I have liked Trello and beta tested it in the beginning. It’s a very flexible app. Perhaps to fix the never addressed unsearchable notes in Pipedrive there might be a way to transfer existing notes in Trello?

I would absolutely LOVE a UI mod where a trello panel would share the screen with Pipedrive, especially the organization and/or person screens.

    • Aivar Ots

      Hi John,
      Thanks for feedback!

  • Daniel Berni

Any plans to do something similar with Todoist in the future?

    • Aivar Ots

Hi Daniel, Todoist is not currently in our roadmap, but we will consider it.

  • Oscar Aguirre

I love the move towards integrating Pipedrive with other task management software. Might Asana be something Pipedrive is considering in the future?

    • Aivar Ots

      Hi Oscar,
Thanks for feedback! Asana is great for task management and something we might consider in the future.

  • Andrew Pisnyy

hi there. This is great, but would be even Greater if it could connect and synchronize or at least move one way the won deals to web-based version of ServiceCEO or any similar or better service field based CRM / Scheduling management software

    • Aivar Ots

      Hi Andrew,
      Thanks for feedback!

  • Sylvain chevet

Great move. My need would have been to create an entire board with pre-create cards and lists.

    • Aivar Ots

      Thanks Sylvain!
Can you elaborate your request and send it to me via email aivar.ots (at) pipedrive.com ?

      • Nick Guebhard

Would also prefer a new board (project) in Trello from a won deal rather than just a card. Extra points if the board created is a copy of a preexisting template.

  • Johnny Walker

I have logged into both Trello and PD and have tried to use the Power option up all day and I can’t get the new deals to show up in Trello. I have been a Trello user for 3 years and know how the program works. I have used both Google and Safari and the problem still remains. If anyone is having the same problem and can solve it please let me know.

    • Nicola

I could not get it to work in Chrome, I did the linking in Firefox, then back to Chrome and it works now.

      • Robert M

I have also had problems authenticating in Chrome, Tor, IE, Edge etc. Tried it all!

I had to download Firefox just to make the authentication connection. I would have preferred to avoid that but now that the connection is made – its awesome.

    • Aivar Ots

      Hi Johnny,
sorry about the trouble – are you still experiencing the issue?

  • Tim Berman

Very nice! Will check out Trello. We are also looking at DaPulse. Do y’all integrate with them?

    • John Furneaux

Hi Tim, we’re just building an integration between Pipedrive and Hive (http://hive.com). We’d love to hear your views on our it should work, would love to hear from you. Best, John

  • This works for me, but if I’m sharing a board with a colleague who doesn’t have or need Pipedrive, they can’t view any of the Pipedrive content in Trello.

Is there a way to port it over permanently so that it stays in Trello as notes on that board?

    • Aivar Ots

      Hey Peter,
You should be able to do that now – Trello board members will see Pipedrive content without having Pipedrive account. Let me know if it works!

    • Great Add-on. It would work perfectly for us if we could add to a certain board based on the type of product on the deal.

      • Rodrigo Mirapalheta

Hi Justin! Thanks for the feedback! I will forward it to our PMs and hopefully we will be able to add it. Have a great day!

    • You’ll need both a Pipedrive account and a free Trello account. Simply install the Pipedrive Power-Up in Trello and get moving.

  • Ed B

i’ve figured out how to have one trigger publish a card…it would be great if you could layer multiple triggers together…eg: when deal goes from stage 1 to stage 2, you add a card to Trello under list ‘stage 2’ AND ALSO when a deal goes from stage 2 to stage 3 on Pipedrive, you MOVE that card to the correct Trello list ‘stage 3’ … in essence being able to create a replica of the Pipedrive pipeline view for people that just want to know whats going on in Sales (like the implementations team or support team or marketing)

    • Arturo Madariaga

This seems like a really good point. Can someone who knows tell us if/when that would be possible?

      • Aivar Ots

        Hey Ed and Arturo,
currently we have one rule limit per Trello board, so these actions are not doable.

  • Ed B

and, how can multiple people feed/link their Pipedrive deals into a singular Trello board? eg: 10 guys on the Sales team using Pipedrive all linking their deals into one Trello board for the folks in Implementations to see…

    • Aivar Ots

      Hi Ed,
All users need to use same pipeline to achieve that.

  • Ashley Munro

Is it possible to have Pipedrive create a new board from a created template board. We have a checklist that needs to be implemented in each project. These are set up in Trello on cards within the board. It would be amazing and hugely time saving to have these checklists and cards added to each board that is created by pipedrive.

    • Aivar Ots

      Hey Ashley,
you can’t do that, but it’s a great idea and we will look into it in the future. Currently it might be doable through Zapier integration.

      • Josh Etress

This would be huge plus for our team as well!

    • John Furneaux

Hi Ashley, we’re currently building an integration between Pipedrive and Hive and would love your advice on this issue. If you’re willing to tell us how it should work, could you reach out to me at john at hive dot com? Many thanks!

      • Nick Egan

        Hi John,

I currently use Pipedrive and I am looking at Hive for team collaboration and workflows. What time-frame would you be looking at having the integration for Hive?

    • Steven

That would be a very, very useful addition, in fact I’d pay for that. Nothing seems to support duplicating, not even Zapier.

  • Paul Watson-Gover

This is a great integration to have but in my opinion considering that I use Trello for tracking of tasks I would like to see the integration focus on the activities that I add to a deal in Pipedrive so that the progress of those activities can be tracked in Trello and ideally automatically marked as done in Pipedrive when moved to the Done column in Trello

This doesn’t appear to be possible at the moment unless I am completely missing something?

    • Christopher

      Hi Paul,

It isn’t possible to do this at the moment but it could be an idea for a future upgrade!

      Christopher
      Pipedrive

  • Andrew Prystai

@aivarots:disqus It would be nice to have it sync backwards too – where cards that are give Pipedrive contacts automatically have those Trello Cards added to their Pipedrive account – either as Deals or Notes

    • Christopher

      Hi Andrew,

      Thanks for the feedback.
We can consider this for a future update 🙂

  • Alberto Pérez

Hi, is that possible to do more than one integration? I mean, we have different pipes in Pipedrive for different countries sales and I need to receive all the won deals into a specific card in Trello. Is that possible? Thanks in advance.

    • Christopher

      Hi Alberto,

You can push cards to the same trello board from different users – so if there are 5 users in PD and 5 users in Trello, they can each add their own powerup to the one trello board.

  • Markus Hammer

Is it possible to use pipedrive pop up information like customer, contact,… for searching / filtering cards in trello? otherwise I can’t see the benefit…
