[Feature Release] Web Forms Beta: Let the Customers Come to You

Pipedrive Web Forms feature

How would you like the virtual equivalent of foot-traffic? You know, that thing many brick-and-mortar businesses, especially those located in malls, rely on? Saturday morning crowds with bulging wallets and itchy pin-numbers eager to spend their cash, the gleam of consumerism glistening on their well-fed faces as they stampede towards the cash register.

With our new web forms we give you the digital equivalent, but we go one better as well, by making sure you get leads that not only want to spend money, but have confirmed that they want to spend it on your product or service. If we weren’t such nice people, we’d consider asking for commission.

How it works

Our new web forms beta gives you multiple options to generate quality leads. The code is simple and requires just a few clicks to use, meaning you don’t need any technical skill to embed these forms all over the place.

On top of that, we’ve made the forms fully customizable, so that you gather the information that’s relevant to your business and sales team without wasting your potential customer’s time.

Get potential clients’ names, email addresses, phone numbers, shoe size, star sign or hair color (you may not want all of those) delivered straight into your pipeline.

pipedrive web form

Multiple ways to use the web forms beta

The first and most obvious way to use a web form is to place it on an easy-to-find page on your website. This allows potential customers to leave you their contact details, which are then automatically ingested into Pipedrive according to your settings, meaning your pipeline is up-to-date with quality, hand-raising leads.

If you have a decent newsletter or email database, you can also place a link to the form in an email and send it out. Again, the information supplied will automatically be imported into your Pipedrive.

And just like that, you’re generating leads and managing them inside your pipeline with minimal effort on your part.

Maybe you want to upsell existing customers, or awaken clients whose accounts have gone dormant? Maybe you sell different services to different target markets? That’s no problem as our customization options allow you to use multiple forms, targeted at different groups, and configured according to your wishes.

From now on, you won’t miss making contact with a single interested customer because someone lost a business card or a phone number. The details will all automatically be in Pipedrive. In fact, you can even set up a form specifically for your sales team as a lead-capturing tool.

This means you and your team won’t spend hours chasing dead leads or cold-calling customers with no interest in your product.

How to get the forms

Ready to get started? Simply go to the settings menu, find web forms and follow the simple instructions from there. Note that you need to be an admin user, or befriend one, to set web forms up.

These forms are built to simplify data collection and give users ease of use. Remember, this is the beta version, so as always we place huge value on your feedback to help us iron out glitches and improve where possible. And should you require more complex forms or information gathering, we offer full integration with the likes of Wufoo and MailChimp through Zapier.

embedding doesn’t seem to work.. have tried on both business catalyst and squarespace.. in both cases, just the text at the top is displayed

    • Martin Henk

      Hi Michael,
Sorry for the trouble! It seems that these systems wrap the code in a container that is not expanding with our form. The engineers are looking into it and I’m sure we’ll have a solution for this very soon. Thanks for letting us know!

      • Martin Henk

A quick way around this is adding another line under our snippet like this

        iframe {height:360px !important;}

And change the 360px to the height of your contact form. I know it’s ugly and only works if you have a single iframe on that particular page, but at least you can quickly try out the form now and not have to wait until our engineers create a proper fix.

        • Michael B

Thanks, that works.. just testing for now, but will there be an option to remove the Captcha box? and also if someone skips a field when clicking submit the user gets directed to the form landing page on your pipedrivewebforms site. I’d rather users stayed on our own site to complete the form

          • Martin Henk

We’ve fixed the issue now. No more extra code necessary.
The form does not expand in Squarespace when logged in for security reasons, but it will be fine for customers looking at the website.

          • Awesome – off to test. Do we need to lift the code from the control panel again?

          • Martin Henk

Yes, it’s probably best to copy the code again just to be sure. I simply removed my addition and it worked as well, but just to be sure.

  • Mike Van Den Bos

I think this is awesome, I created a simple web form and placed links with articles I post at Linkedin. It just works like a charm. This really add value, Thanks!

    • Martin Henk

Really great to hear that, Mike!

  • Folks, a great, simpler addition to an awesome tool. If the embedding code could flex to the space it’s embedded in; we’re golden. I tried a sidebar and footer widget in WordPress and slidebar city 😉 Now embedded in a page and still so. I see some tweaks below, I’ll try them but thought to feed back.

    • Martin Henk

      Thanks, Kenny!
Sorry about the flexing. The engineers are working on a fix. The quick workaround is in the comments below. I know it’s ugly, but can get you up and running at least until we fix it properly.

  • Camilo A. López B.

That’s good news, marketing automation is the next step, once you get data into Pipedrive you should be able to trigger some email according to the stage or action the lead has taken.

    • TheNorthwest

I setup a Zapier for this with Gmail. Respond if you want so more info on how I did that.

      • Camilo A. López B.

It is ok, thanks a lot, but I’d like to see pipedrive doing this itself and not to depend on 3rd party software.

  • TheNorthwest

I have been waiting for this tool, so thank you for getting it started. I want to customize the form with some CSS (i.e. change “.cui-Button-positive.cui-Button” style to my own color, and make the inputs list horizontally). Is the plan to keep the CSS locked down? Also, are the developers going to include customized fields from my own Pipedrive? I’m curious as to where it is now and it where Pipedrive plans to take it.

    • Martin Henk

      Hi,
Thanks for the feedback! Custom fields are coming soon. Not sure about changing the CSS though. It’s a bit too early to say how customizable it will get.

  • Jonathan Meyers

The ability to create highly customize forms in PipeDrive is exciting. But what is the potential to have existing forms on a website send data directly into PipeDrive? The form below is from a client who receives these forms and then manually enters them into PipeDrive. Can the form (from a wordpress plugin) route into PipeDrive?

    • Martin Henk

It’s certainly possible to get data into Pipedrive from existing forms automatically. Depending on the form it’s possible through either a direct integration (Gravity Forms has an integration for example) or through a 3rd party link like Zapier.com

I can’t really say which form they’re using based on the screenshot, but if they get us the name of the form they’re using I’m sure our support people will be able to figure out an automatic solution.

      • Olof Törnqvist

        Hi Martin and Jonathan,

Please take a look at Triggerbee.com that offers automatic integration with websites and Pipedrive.

Triggerbee connects your email service (like Mailchimp) with website activities and with Pipedrive. You get a fully automatic leads machine!

        / Olof

    • ednadmin

We use Contact Form 7. It took a little fussing with, but we connected a zapier email parser and shoot it straight to PipeDrive. Different forms (intern app, advertising inquiry, etc.) into different pipelines.

  • Brian Samson

What is the price after the free trial?

    • Martin Henk

      Hi Brian,
Pipedrive is $12 or €12 per user per month after the free trial. The web forms are included in the monthly price.

      • Brian Samson

I already use (a love) Pipedrive but assumed this was an add-on – That’s great news!

  • Amaury Lanthier

    A nice feature !
Why is there only few fields to choose ? I mean, can we find a field that I have created in the organization details ? For ex. I add the “website” field, how can I add it on the form ?

    • Martin Henk

      Thanks for the feedback, Amaury!
We currently only support system fields. We’re already working on custom field support and it’s coming soon.

      • Amaury Lanthier

        Thanks @martinhenk:disqus ! More questions :
1/ Will it be possible to create a form in another language ?
2/ Is there any match when it’s an existing organization/contact ?
3/ Will it be possible to create attribution’s rules (owner) depending on the custom fields ? Or randomly ?
Thanks a lot for your answers 🙂

        • Martin Henk

As all the texts are customizable you can create a separate form for each language and type in the labels in the appropriate language.

There’s no duplicate detection yet unfortunately

You could again create a separate form for each occasion and show it on your web page based on criteria.

  • Can we use the Smart email BCC in a form to get the result sent to Pipedrive?

    • Martin Henk

      Hi Clan,
It’s not possible to use the Smart BCC to generate deals in Pipedrive. You can get an email sent into Pipedrive this way and we can even generate a new contact automatically for you, but if you want to generate deals from an email it’s best to use this web form or another web form solution that can send data in other ways than email

      • Thanks Martin. Our website is generated in Umbraco and uses the built in forms. Would you foresee any difficulties in using your Web Forms in Umbraco?

  • willo_jnr

Very timely. Unfortunately if logic jumps are not supported it will not be a right fit for us. Is that feature coming soon?

    • Martin Henk

      Hi,
We don’t have logic jumps and it’s not planned for the near future, but you could set up several different forms for different pages and have them act differently if there’s not too many pages. Right now you could change the default owner, pipeline and stage based on the form.

If it’s any more complicated than that you’ll probably need to go with a 3rd party or custom form.

  • Bruno Giel

    Hidden fields with url parameters?

    • Martin Henk

      Hi Bruno,
Not right now. But you could set up several different forms for each of the URLs and have them act differently if there’s not too many pages. Right now you could change the default owner, pipeline and stage based on the form.

  • armstrjare

Any plans to allow CSS customisation?

    • Martin Henk

Not yet and it’s not planned for the near future, but never say never…

      • TheNorthwest

Please let us change the color of the button.

  • Felipe Cichini Simões

How can I have it shoot me an e-mail when a new deal is added to the pipeline?

    • Martin Henk

      Hi Felipe,
Right now it would only be possible through a 3rd party solution such as Zapier.com But it’s certainly a feature request to keep in mind for future updates.

      • Felipe Cichini Simões

It’s just that the forme used to send me an e-mail and I’d go and deal with the request. I think using zapier only for this instance would be overkill, so changing the behavior of the team to work directly in Pipedrive might be an easier fix. Thanks!

        • Martin Henk

We hear you 🙂 We’ll see what we can do

          • Anthony Aisenberg

Yes, this would be a very handy feature to include. I’m not in Pipedrive all the time and sometimes can be unaware the a new lead is sitting there without realising.

    • Richi Uttam

For every new deal use zapier, you don’t need to use pipedrive forms.

    • +1 on adding email notification of new deals from the web form

  • Andy Gould

Wait a minute.. web forms, with no check between the public and pipedrive, that don’t even include notes, and don’t actually delete when you delete them. So.. someone could spam our account with lots of junk new deals?

    • Martin Henk

      Hi Andy,
      Thanks for the feedback.
I don’t really see an issue sending leads directly into Pipedrive. This is how most web forms work that our customers currently use either through direct integrations or through 3rd party links like Zapier.com
There’s a captcha to prevent automatic malicious activity and it’s possible to disable the form if you see someone actively misusing it.
The support for custom fields is coming soon. Not sure about note support. Surely it’s possible to keep using 3rd party or custom forms if you need more or specific functionality.

  • datamolino

Any chance to put our logo on the form? It would help if it could pop-up as a “modal window”. We currently use LeadPages for this, but would gladly change to Pipedrive only solution.

    • Martin Henk

Thanks for the feedback! Right now it’s not possible, but we’ll file it as a great suggestion for the future for sure.

      • TerraNetwork

+1 for my own logo so customers know it’s a legit form by ourselves.

  • Amaury Lanthier

    A nice feature !

Why is there only few fields to choose ? I mean, can we find a field that I have created in the organization details ? For ex. I add the “website” field, how can I add it on the form ?

    • Bethany Meyer

This is my problem with the form functionality as well. I want to collect information such as a contact’s job title and capture the lead source (ex: contact page, free course page) as well.

      • Martin Henk

        Hi,
Thanks for the feedback! Right now we only support system fields, but the team is already working on custom field support. It’s coming soon.

  • Holly Marwood

I can’t get on the support page how would I add these forms onto our company website?

    • Martin Henk

      Hi Holly,
Once you’ve created a form you can click the button with the upward pointing arrow and copy the code snippet. You can then paste that snippet into the page you want the form to appear on. Or you’ll have to give it to your web master if you can’t directly edit the page yourself.

      • Holly Marwood

Is there a specific way it need to be done as it is just coming up as code on the site when I do it. I am currently in change of the site admin as our marketing manager has resigned. I don’t know anything about this stuff, we use word press

        • Martin Henk

          Hi,
Can you see a toggle in the top right corner of your editor? I have 2 little tabs Visual | Text in the top right corner in WordPress when I’m editing a page. If you switch to Text and paste the code snippet it should work.

          • Holly Marwood

            Hi Martin,

Thats worked now, Its great thank you for your help 🙂

    • Richi Uttam

Save the form, then click the popout tool, copy and paste the html. Go to your website, insert the html code. done.

  • Richi Uttam

Really need to remove POWERED BY. Gosh surprised i am still seeing that for paid customers in 2016… that is so 2001. Pipedrive you are above that! Also need to add custom fields? Still no first name and last name fields, shocking! Captcha, please make it optional, or at the very least customizable. Upon form return, the user is taken away from our page (our website where we insert the page) the success takes the user off our site to pipedrivewebforms.. no way will we use this…very happy to use other solutions instead. Give us the ability to POST directly to pipedrive api from our own coded forms please.

    • Martin Henk

      Hi Richi,

Thanks for the feedback! The form is a free addition to the paid product. I don’t believe most people are shocked by that little logo. We do need to fix the bug with sending people away from the page after they submit the form. It’s definitely not meant to work this way.

We don’t have separate first or last name in Pipedrive UI and are not planning to add it. This is also reflected in the web forms. Just being consistent here. Custom fields support is coming soon though.

You can easily POST into the Pipedrive REST API from your custom coded web forms. Here’s the link to the documentation https://developers.pipedrive.com/v1 Please let support know if you need any assistance with setting it up

  • If I have a paid account, is it possible to delete the pipedrive logo on the successful message?

    • Martin Henk

Well, all we have is paid accounts. The web form is a free add-on to the paid account. May I ask why you want to remove the logo?

      • gert74

I also really don’t like the logo on the form. Doesn’t feel professional at all.

  • brewevilsjim

First, this is fantastic! I’ve implemented on my Squarespace site and it works as designed. A couple requests. First (as mentioned prior), the ability to have custom fields as we use them extensively. Second, a mechanism to get the user back to a page on our website after the form has been filled out. Maybe the ability to add a link to the confirmation page? (“Click here to return to our website” and then allow us to enter the destination URL in the form settings.

    • Martin Henk

Thanks! Glad you like it. We’re working on custom fields and it’s coming soon. The fact that the user is taken to the next page after the form is submitted is a bug that we’re fixing asap. They will remain on your page after filling out an embedded form.

      • brewevilsjim

Outstanding. Thanks Martin! Kudos to the team. This is a real value added feature!

  • Joel

How do I embed the code into WordPress? Is there a step by step guide?

    • Martin Henk

      Hi Joel,
No official one, but I can quickly create one for you:
      – Go to Settings, Web forms in Pipedrive
      – Create a new form, save it
      – Click the button with the arrow pointing up and to the right
      – Copy the code snippet
      – Go edit the WP page you want to add the form to
      – There’s a tab in the top right of the edit window in WP. Flip that tab to Text
      – Paste the snippet into the text box in the place you want to place it
      – Save
      – Done

  • John Martens

    Love the new feature.

Once these forms are completed and submitted via my site, is there a solution to generate an email that sends to my business email notifying me of a new prospect? I love how it integrates, but I don’t want to have to constantly check Pipedrive to notify me that a new prospect has requested more information.

    Any thoughts?

    • Martin Henk

      Hi John,
I’m glad to hear you like it. The request for notifications is pretty vocal here in the comments. We’re certainly add this to the list of possible improvements. Hopefully we can add it soon.

  • TheNorthwest

Do you need to say the form is “Powered by Pipedrive?” As a paying customer I don’t think it’s appropriate to brand a form for my business.

    • Martin Henk

We’ll make it less prominent in the near future. Right now there’s a bug that is causing people to move away from your page after submitting the form. We’re in the process of fixing this. And we’ll make the logo stand out less.

  • Any options to get notified about a lead submitted through a Web Form?

    • Martin Henk

There’s no direct way yet, but based on the comments here I we’re definitely considering it

  • Collin

I did a test run with the cool new form and it worked great but…it created a new person in Pipedrive (me who is already in Pipedrive so a duplicate person and duplicate organization…. something to watch for.

    • Martin Henk

Thanks for pointing it out. The form is mostly meant for getting new contacts into Pipedrive, but a bit of dupe detection wouldn’t hurt for sure.

      • Collin

I have accumulated a lot of duplicates in companies and people over the years. Is there any duplicate detection?

  • Collin

Also, I have web forms that send me an email so I don’t miss responding promptly. Maybe the owner of the deal could be emailed directly from Pipedrive…..?

    • Martin Henk

Yes, it’s coming up a lot here in the comments. We’re definitely considering adding a notification feature in the future.

      • Collin

Thanks! I want to know which of the 30,000 I am. 🙂 Congrats on reaching this milestone!

  • Sagi Tikotski

Hi, Great feature. Could I get a notification (an email) every time a new lead comes in? We don’t get a lot of leads (very niche business).

    • Martin Henk

      Hi Sagi,
I’m glad to hear you like it. And yes, based on the comments here we definitely have to add the notification functionality soon 🙂

  • brewevilsjim

One quick suggestion. On my form the required fields are indicated by an asterisk (*), however there is nowhere on the form defining what the asterisk means. Might be obvious to many, but would be good to add something like “* = Required Field” at the bottom of the lead form.

    • Martin Henk

Very good suggestion. Pretty sure we can do that

  • Rolando Ramos

Issue is everytime I add the webform it disappears and i have to recreate it. Its happened twice now???

    • Martin Henk

We’re really sorry for that, Rolando. There were technical issues with the forms yesterday and some of them got lost. We know it’s unacceptable even for a beta and we’re doing everything we can to prevent this from happening in the future. You can add another one today and I’m sure it will stay there now.

  • Cass Tyson

Thanks for adding this feature, I think it will be very useful!

+1 on removing Pipedrive logo and replacing with my own
+1 for adding custom fields, particularly long form text fields and drop-downs/radio buttons, etc
+1 for ability to customize via CSS
+1 to notify me (or a custom email address within the form) about new submissions
    +1 for allowing custom redirects
+1 for allowing me to use my own WP web forms to accomplish the same thing(s). Isn’t that just an API issue?

Please fix the text capitalization. Sentence case in the form creator appears as all caps on the form.

Maybe this is unrelated or answered elsewhere, but would it be possible to have the user’s email address (and name, etc) automagically added to my Mailchimp list, to start the whole autoresponder thing? I know Zapier has this, but I haven’t delved into that yet. Would the two (Web Forms and Zapier) work together?

    • Martin Henk

      Hi Cass,
Thanks for the feedback. And for grouping the +1-s 🙂

You can achieve the same result with 3rd party forms. Some of them have a direct integration (Gravity forms for example). With others you’d have to set up a Zap in Zapier.com to get the web form submissions into Pipedrive automatically.

We don’t have a direct link between Mailchimp and the web forms. But again, through a zap you could send this info to Mailchimp quite easily I think.

  • Our website is generated by Umbraco and uses the built in forms. Would you foresee any difficulties in using your Web Forms in Umbraco?

    • Martin Henk

      Hi Clan,
I think we fixed the issues we first had with 3rd party CMS systems. So I don’t foresee any problems with your system. But it’s best to try it out on a new temporary page first to see how it works.

      • Thanks Martin,
I’m a writer, without access to the HTML, but I’ll ask our developer to have a go.

  • TerraNetwork

Trialling this and looking good 🙂 Couple of points I’d love to see added:
    1. ability to add my own logo
    2. ability to send an email upon submission to the contact (eg with a unique discount voucher)
    3. alert when submission is received to allow timely follow up

    • Martin Henk

Thanks for the feedback! We’ll certainly think about all of these suggestions.

  • datamolino

I am testing the embed code right now. However it seems to load very slowly if embedded, it is a bit of a dealbreaker to push it on the whole site. Any ideas ? (there is about 5 seconds delay after all the other stuff has loaded)

    • Martin Henk

      Hi,
Sorry to hear that. The embedded form is loading instantly for me both in a regular web page as well as in a CMS. Can you please tell me what system you’re using for the website? Maybe there’s something specific going on with the CMS you’re using…

      • datamolino

        Hi,
        check it out at https://www.datamolino.com/contact/
It is embedded as “code block” the theme is using the Avia framework on WordPress

        • Martin Henk

Thanks for the link. Something is broken there indeed. I’ve passed it on to the developers and they’re looking into it asap.

          • datamolino

thanks, I will monitor this discussion. I will play around with it . For a beta version it is a good progress.

    • Martin Henk

Also, have you tried refreshing the page once more? The very first time the form is built in our servers and can take a few seconds. The next time and from then on out it will already be pulled from cache and should be instant.

  • Guido

Well done Martin, a good addition!
It is very basic at the moment but I am sure it will get better in the future as for all Pipedrive features.
I think is very important you add an email notification of new deals from the web form, asap.
Also the questions should not be in capital letters, they could be in Italic or in a different colour if you want to differentiate.

    • Martin Henk

Thanks for the feedback, Guido. It will definitely be improved. I’ll pass your suggestions on to the team.

  • Is it possible to integrate the Webform on a Pop-up plugin? And if yes, which one..?

  • Matthew

Can I remove the ‘powered by pipedrive’? I can’t use it if it’s there.

    • Martin Henk

      Hi Matthew,
Unfortunately it’s not possible. May I ask why this is preventing you from using it with the Powered by Pipedrive?

      • That really should be optional.

        • Alex

Yes, it should be optional. When we use a paid account, we should have an option to not to show this logo.

  • Mj Zee

Hi, how do I change the colour of the button, the background colour of the contact form and font to suit my website?
    please help! thanks.

    • Joel Jesus

Hey! I’m afraid it’s not possible to configure the colours of our web form.

      Joel
      Pipedrive

      • Mj Zee

o that is a shame! do you know of any other apps I can use to change the web form? I’m using contact form 7 on my wordpress website and I just want the contact form to fit into the style/colours of my website.
        many thanks.

        • Mario Tasane

We are going to add some customisation options in the future. Sadly, I cannot offer any ETA on this.

          • Mj Zee

ok thanks for letting me know.

          • Mj Zee

on another question, is it possible to sync unsubscribers from mailchimp to pipedrive? I have been using piesync but it still does not work!

  • Paul Linn

Will this feature ever send out an email notification when a new lead has been added by the web from? It seems like this would be common sense.

    • Christopher

Hopefully in future. For now you can use Zapier to set this up.

      Christopher
      Pipedrive

  • Vikki Steenson

It would be great if you could add custom fields that have a pre-determined value (like lead source = whatever webform) for internal use, but are hidden from the actually being displayed on the webform the customer would fill out.

    • Joel Jesus

Thanks for the feedback Vikki. An interesting suggestion, one that as for now there is no solution.

      Joel

Solid feature really like it. Only problem with it is, with all my custom system fields, the size of the form cuts off the bottom half of the form (cant see the submit button).
